Sam Abushenaf
President
Sam Abushenaf is the President of LIBCAN. Sam has an Engineering and MBA degree from Dalhousie University and multiple industry certifications including the Institute of Inspection, Cleaning and Restoration, IICRC. He has over fifteen years of combined experience in Property Restoration, Construction, and Real Estate Investment. Sam is hands on in all his business ventures. He has built a great resource team comprised of all the necessary construction trades providing excellent quality control, great service, and lower costs for customers.
Sam was born in a small village in Libya and relocated on his own to Canada at the age of 17. Sam, his wife, Amy, and four children, Ali, Salim, Aya and Laith, live in the Truro area. He loves Nova Scotia and truly enjoys the small town, country lifestyle and traveling with his family.

Kim Boomer
General Manager
Kim Boomer is the General Manager of LIBCAN. She joined the team as a Project Manager in February 2020, bringing with her a history of drafting & design, construction renovation, retail construction supply, as well as, project management, and became the GM in 2022. Kim maintains IICRC accreditation in water restoration (WRT) and fire restoration (FRT).
While born and raised in Nova Scotia, Kim headed west where she spent 16 years in Alberta, and during that time, attained her CADD certification, returning home to her beloved ocean playground in 2013.
She currently serves as the Vice President of the Truro & Colchester Chamber of Commerce, and in rare free time, can be found relaxing with family, headed for the beach, or swinging away on the golf course!

Joe Young
Branch Manager
Meet Joe, our Antigonish Branch Manager. Joe joined LIBCAN in the spring of 2024 as an estimator, bringing with him a strong background in cost estimating and project management. Based in Antigonish, Joe has taken on the exciting challenge of expanding LIBCAN's presence in the area. With extensive experience in residential construction and renovation, he combines his expertise in estimating with a hands-on understanding of what it takes to manage successful projects. Outside of work, Joe enjoys spending time fishing and hunting, which reflect his hardworking, dedicated approach to both his professional and personal life.

Andrew Lake
Project Manager
Meet Andrew, one of LIBCAN’s trusted Project Managers. He was born and raised in Truro NS, and earned his Civil Engineering degree from the Technical University of Nova Scotia and a Masters degree from the University of Nevada, Reno. After working in California for a brief period, Andrew returned to Truro to work with his family in their construction business. Andrew joined LIBCAN in 2022 and serves as a project manager overseeing the redevelopment of a commercial building in town as well as assisting with the Project Management of LIBCAN's core work in emergency wind, water and fire restoration.
Andrew is a past president of the Nova Scotia Road Builders Association; Truro Colchester Chamber of Commerce and presently sits on the boards of the Colchester East Hants Hospice Society and the Colchester East Hants Mental Health Association. Outside of work Andrew spends his time with his wife Tricia and has two children, Patrick and Regan

Emma Legere
Business Development Manager
Meet Emma, our Business Development Manager. Emma had spent five years in the personal lines insurance industry selling and servicing insurance policies before transitioning to LIBCAN, where she now has the privilege of being part of a team dedicated to helping clients recover and rebuild after a loss. As the Business Development Manager, Emma is passionate about driving growth and helping LIBCAN reach its full potential. Outside of work, she enjoys cooking and spending time with her family which includes her very spoiled dog, Ruby.

Kenzie Osborne
Administrative Assistant
Meet Kenzie, our dynamic Administrative Assistant who brought her extensive experience to the LIBCAN team in February 2024. Originally from Moncton, N.B., Kenzie made the move with nearly two decades of office expertise spanning diverse industries—from Transportation and Oil & Gas to Electronics Manufacturing and Textiles. A true problem-solver with a passion for service, she’s the warm and friendly face you’ll find greeting visitors at our Truro Office. When she’s not helping the team run smoothly, you can catch Kenzie watching a baseball game, rocking out at concerts, or hunting for hidden treasures along the beach.

Helen McAleese CPA, CMA
Accountant
Meet Helen, our Accountant. Helen joined the LIBCAN team in July 2024. She brings a wealth of experience in various industries, such as Oil and Gas, Real Estate, Manufacturing, Distribution and Retail Accounting. Helen was born and raised in Nova Scotia. She earned her CPA designation in 1992, as a Certified Management Accountant and shortly afterwards her B.Comm at Saint Mary’s University. In 1997, Helen relocated to Toronto, moving with Shopper’s Drug Mart. After spending the past 20 years with a private company, she and her family have returned home to Nova Scotia and are loving every minute of it.
